Missoula & Ravalli Coordinator
Writing Coaches of Montana is seeking a part-time Missoula & Ravalli County Coordinator. The Coordinator is responsible for working with the Executive Director to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteer coaches in Missoula County & Ravalli County schools. Hours are approximately 15–20 per week, with a combination of remote work and being physically present in schools and at meetings.
Writing Coaches of Montana (WCM) is a nonprofit that trains community members to support public school student literacy. Community volunteers are trained as coaches and work one-on-one throughout the school day with students and use a praise-question-suggest model, based upon principles of motivational interviewing.
Responsibilities
- Work with ED to recruit coaches through media, community outreach, and networking
- Co-facilitate new coach training, with Executive Director and board members
- Identify teachers to participate in the program and work with them to schedule and implement coaching sessions; maintain relationships with teacher partners
- Create and maintain coaching schedule (ensuring there are enough coaches present) and registrations via WCM website
- Supervise coaching sessions in schools; fill in for absent coaches as needed
- Evaluate coaching sessions for problems and successes
- Communicate with coaches and teachers for post-session feedback
- Maintain working relationships with district and school administration
- Work with the Executive Director to develop relevant reports that support quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors
- Work with Board of Directors and Executive Director to facilitate events and meet-ups for coaches
- Maintain clear records and organized systems on volunteer onboarding, coaching sessions, and program management
- Support with other projects, as needed
Qualifications
- Passion for supporting volunteerism and public education
- Proficiency or ability to learn electronic communications and standard software (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Google Drive and other Google products: Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Meet, Forms)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience managing volunteers or working in public schools is a plus
Physical Demands
The Coordinator is required to visit schools for scheduling, coordinating, recruiting, and training purposes which may involve walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items.
Hourly Wage
$22/hour
