We will be working with Ms. Blouin's students. The afternoon classes read "Flight" by Sherman Alexie, and they were asked to respond to the following prompt:

Think about all of the “flights” and steps that Zits has experienced throughout the novel. Use these key moments to describe Zits’ self-discovery and identity by the end of the reading. Who is he now and what has lead him to be this person? Be sure to define who Zits is now in your thesis statement. Explain the purpose his “flights” had on helping Zits to find himself in your body paragraphs. You must cite textual evidence for every example to support your reasoning, and include a thesis statement in your introductory paragraph that you will be proving throughout your paper.

Consider how lost, distraught, pessimistic, and angry he was at the beginning of the novel as opposed to his behavior in the last chapter we read. What theme or lesson about humanity does Zits’ experiences teach the reader (this could be a good to include in your conclusion based on the examples you choose to use in your essay)?

More information regarding the morning class's assignment will be available soon.
